Cards

Haven't done much blogging at all lately.... but that's ok. I have been busy and recently I made a couple of cards for the up and coming holidays and I'd thought I'd share them with you.
this is one for Thanksgiving. The pic is a bit blurry - sorry. I did want you to see the sentiment I made on the computer. It's 1 Chronicles16:34. I always think people are getting thanksgiving wrong. They keep saying "oh I'm Thankful for my kids" or "I'm Thankful for my health". but who are you thankful too! Every good thing we have is a gift from God - so let's be Thankful to God in Heaven for all our blessings1

and here is a Cute little card that I thought might be nice for an invitation to a cookie exchange for Christmas
I hope everyone has a Blessed Thanksgiving and can make a loooong list of all the things you can be grateful (to God) for.
                               Happy Crafting :)

Faith Family Friends sign

I've been making these wood signs lately and I decided to make myself one. Usually they are only 12 inches long but I wanted to make a longer one to go under a shelf in my office. I LOVE the way it turned out! I'll show you how I did it. SO EASY..
First, find yourself a piece of wood, mine is 6" x 40"
Any scrap piece will do, mine was from an old deck we took apart. Paint it black or white or whatever background color you would like. I did mine black and I only paint where the paper would not be.
Then find some pretty scrapbook paper and head to your computer. I used Word to print the words Faith Family and Friends. You might have to play around a little to get it just right, and remember to leave at least a 1 inch border. I also had to print each word on a seperate piece of paper.

Then I used my favorite stamp and added black to the corners and around the edges.
I used mod podge to glue the paper down.

Then I went to my favorite little machine - the Cricut! I cut seven 3"curly shapes.
I added some black ink to the curly shapes to give them more depth and then glued them in place
A sweet little silver heart glued between the words and I put upholstery tacks in the corners but the picture didn't show them very well

Since I wasn't going to hang it on the wall but off the bottom of the shelf, I used cup hooks and eye screws. I attached the hooks to the underneath of the shelf and the eyes to the top of my sign. A little tip - put a dab of toothpaste on the eyes and then touch it to the shelf, it leaves a mark exactly where you need to screw in the cup hooks.
This is the before...
And here's the after...
What do you think?

I LOVE it!

Wedding flowers

Starting to work on wedding flowers for my friend. I just love the colors she has picked out - purple, cream and blue. The silk flowers are so beautiful and they look real.
The pictures don't really show how pretty they are...
I added some blue silk ribbon on the handle...
I would looove to work full time as a florist!

Classroom Easter gift

Every year I like to give my son's class gifts for the different holidays. Since I had all these left over plastic easter eggs, I thought I would make bunnies for each classmate.
They are so simple to make. First, I cut out paper ears and painted pink in the center. Then I cut out little felt pink triangles for the noses. I drew on the face with black permanent markers, glued on the ears and a white pom pom for the tail. The feet are heart shaped foam pieces left over from valentine's day and glued on with hot glue - the feet are needed so the bunny can stay upright. Lastly, fill with candy.
I had to make 28 for his class. But I think they really enjoyed them and appreciate the little thought.

Easter Card

I was recently invited to a card party with some friends. Every now and then we get together to make cards. Since Easter is coming I thought I would make an Easter card. And even though I think bunnies are the sweetest, Easter is all about my risen Savior - Jesus Christ. So my card is one that I could share my Easter Blessings...
Here is the front...

I printed the image off the net and did alot of layering. I also used my cricut to cut out the swirly shape. The pic doesn't do it justice, the blue is actually purple. The front reads "Let the whole Earth be filled with His glory"
Here's the inside...

It reads.."May the glory of our risen Lord renew  your hopes, faith and joy!"
May you all have a Blessed Easter and know that Jesus really is the reason for the season!

Crochet flowers & coasters

After I made those cute little headbands out of fabric, I thought I would also use up some of my yarn scraps. I've been seeing sweet flowers on different blogs made out of crochet so I thought I'd give it a try. I know how to crochet but I never made flowers before. What do you think?

I'm going to be attaching them to pins, and headbands and clips. They were so easy to make it got me in the mood to crochet again. I went around looking for some books for inspiration and I found these little booklets at the thrift store 5 /$1.00 ( what a deal! I love the thrift store!)

Inside one was a pattern for coasters which I thought would make a good gift for a friend that has a birthday coming up. I never worked with such a small hook and thread before but it was easier than I thought.
I made a set of 4 and purcheased this cut glass dish to put them in.
                                            They fit perfectly!

Some ribbon and a tag and it's all ready to give!

Wall Words.....
A while back I had put some pictures up on the wall. It was really easy - I simply found frames at the thrift store, painted them black, and added black and white pictures of my kids and the dog. I love the way the black and white softens the image. Well, I had treated myself to a cricuit and I wanted to add some wall words. It was soooooo easy and I love the way it turned out. I used  "wall decor and more" except I didn't like the f in family so I simply cut out a more decorative one. The pics hang in the basement where the walls are brick so I simply cut them out of paper and taped them up. What do you think?.....

I think I might add Faith and Friends before and after.

Fabric scrap headbands

Here's a sweet little craft to make with those left over fabric scraps. It's so easy to make and very inexpensive. Start with a pack of headbands. I got mine at the dollar store - 6 for $1.00

Cut a piece of fabric about 2" x 20". Tie a knot in one end then start twisting and winding around the knot, securing with hot glue as you go....
This makes a sweet little rosette. Cut a circle of felt in a matching color, slightly smaller so it doesn't show...
Glue the rosette onto the headband and then glue the felt on to cover the back....
                          Wasn't that simple.....

Now make a few in different colors... Green...
                                                                   Yellow..

Purple...

                                                                        Blue....
And when you are finished you need to find some sweet little girls to give them to.
And if you don't like headbands, just glue them on to a clip.

These were so easy to make and they would make a great little accent to an outfit. Spring is coming you know!
