Yellow Office

Well, since my office is right next to my new guest room I just had to freshen it up. I am just in love with yellow anymore, it is so bright and cheery.  I was going to just paint the one wall yellow and the rest the same white I used in the guest room but I ran out of white paint so I painted 3 walls yellow and one white. Painting can be a chore but it is so worth it in the end. Again, this room didn't cost very much at all. Most of the accessories are from thrift stores.

It's so fun when you find just what you had in mind, like this picture of daisies above the shelf. It's exactly what I was looking for and I found it on facebook marketplace.  I made the chair cover and the cornice above the window. The chandelier was $2 from the habitat for humanity store. It was gold so I spray painted it black and added some crystals. A little sparkle is always nice.

Accessories on the shelf stayed the same, the cute little owls were picked up from Goodwill.

A little vintage is always welcomed. Vintage carry on case, fan and telephone add interest.

I repainted the table, which serves as my desk, and re-stained the top dark ebony.

The hutch I painted white; it took about 3 coats to cover but I like how crisp and clean it looks and accessorizing is fun.

Most of the items I already had , I just added a few bits of yellow...

And finally , this sign I made hangs on the door between the rooms and it says it all....

I hope you love your space and surround yourself with things that make you happy, I certainly do.

Yellow Gingham Guestroom

What else can brighten up a room than new paint and yellow gingham! I love gingham, something about it makes me feel cottage cozy and at home. I recently fixed up a guest room and it looks like a million bucks but far from it , this room was done for hardly anything and I love the way it turned out.

I knew I wanted yellow gingham curtains so that's where I started. I was going to make the curtains but I found these from Sears for only $16. The back wall I painted yellow and the other walls white. I better water my plant it looks a bit droopy.

A bit of sparkle from this beautiful chandelier from facebook marketplace for only $20. Handmade pillows from fabric I already had and lamps & nightstand from Goodwill for $2.

I painted the nightstand. I have so much fun searching for items at the thrift store that I can use or fix up. The lampshade came separate but it is so cute and still was only $2. I added some silver with the kleenix box and always have to have plants in a room.

Some Goodwills also sell new goods such as this wall sign that was the perfect size for the space.

More plants on the other side and a cute, little silver clock - $4 Goodwill

Antique dresser we already had. Some more fun accessories from thrift stores that I had and finally got to use. Sometimes I buy things for future use.

Love the reflection in the mirror....

I always put a tray at the end of a bed full of goodies - tea pot and cup, candy , candle and a plant...

So if you are ever in town and want to come visit you'll have a beautiful place to stay.

Spring Porch Update

It's time to change up the porch a bit. It doesn't seem to matter what fabric I use on the cushions they always tend to fade, especially since I leave them out all year uncovered. This year I found a pretty fabric that has the yellow and green in it that I like but it also has a touch of red which is a combination I am loving lately - red, yellow, white and of course green. I did buy a sun uv protectant to apply to the fabric so it doesn't fade , I'll let you know how it works.

I've been holding on to this flag for such a long time, I love the geraniums.

I found a cute green bedspread that had a fun pattern in it, at a thrift store for a couple of dollars, and it was large enough to cover both chairs and the couch. The red check is a table cloth, again that I found at a thrift store. The Pat Catan's where I live is closing so if you buy the whole bolt of fabric you get it for 70% off - such a deal I couldn't resist , plus the fabric was perfect.

Red lanterns , again from the thrift store - sorry but it is my favorite place to shop.

Added some dark red to the wreath and table arrangement that I had from last year

I made this cute little flower pillow out of  dark red felt.

I still have a few things to fix up - repaint the side table, recover the foot stools, add a table runner, oh and plant my flowers of course. But for now I love how it turned out....
