Christmas Home Tour 2020 - Kitchen

 I really enjoy my kitchen and all the Christmas decorations greet me each morning...

My antique hoosier cabinet is filled with all kinds of Christmas cheer...

                               I use it more as a desk, a place to sit and sip my tea and write notes...

                                                    or to search recipes...

or grab a chocolate.. 

                                 vintage aprons hang on the side...

                                The counter where biscuits are made...

                                 I just found these canisters this year at an estate sale...

                                 Pioneer Woman has some pretty Christmas containers...

                                 The bright spot under the window...

                                The corner where dishes are washed...

                                 My morning cup of tea begins here...

                                  the stove where the kettle boils...

                                 and wise words to remind me....

                              Gingerbread men and a gingerbread tree top the refrigerator...

                                

                                  and microwave...

                         

                                  I have a bar dividing the kitchen from the dining room...

                                 there's candy for welcomed guests...

                                  and candles to scent the air...

                                  Every little shelf has been touched...

My kitchen is a happy place where many memories are made and everywhere I look reminds me of the joys of the season. I hope your kitchen is a happy place.

Christmas Home Tour 2020 - Entryway

 

I take pictures every year so I know what I did the year before . Usually, I keep everything the same but sometimes I'll change something up - add new ribbon or change up a pillow or throw in something that I made. 

Let's go inside...

I have a small entryway that I'm very thankful for. It is where we can come in, take off our shoes, and hang up our coats.

Here's the bench I change for the seasons...

Last year I added this pillow I made. This year I made this snowman out of a white terry cloth towel. I love the way he turned out...

I hang a few ornaments and change the items on the shelf, I also change out the wall hangings although I'm trying to find something different for the walls. Searching thrift stores is so much fun...

A few things added here and there...

 I love  hutches, I think I have at least one in every room. I painted this one black last year. I always decorate it for the holidays but it is also practical storing scarves, hats and gloves...

Most items I have had for years, like these santas...

or these miniatures I found at a craft show years ago...

I have also had this charming tails ( which I collect ) nativity for years...

but there are a few new ( to me )things, like these vintage carolers I found at the thrift store and the tree cookie jar from a yard sale...

or this tree candle again from the thrift store and this Pioneer Woman pitcher from facebook marketplace....

I also do the railing to downstairs and put a wreath on the pantry door...

Decorating doesn't have to cost a lot of money, as you can see most things I get from thrift stores or yard sales, searching (shopping) is half the fun! It's also a time to clean, I move and dust everything before I put it up. This entry greets me and my guests when I enter and makes me happy. What do you see when you enter your house?

Christmas outside 2020 cont'd

 Continuing the tour of my Christmas decorations. Today it's my outside by the side door.

Enjoy...

I pretty much keep it the same every year just updating a couple of things. The ribbon gets a bit nasty after a while so I freshened up the ribbon; added a bit of the black and white here and there...

The shelf I keep by the door gets decorated for different holidays, the santa is an old water ski I painted years ago...

I have another milk can and fence on this side of the house that stays up all the time...

I keep the wreath on this side of the house simple...

I love my wooden screen door, my husband helped me make it one year for mother's day...

Snowmen just make me happy...

We found these window boxes for $1 at a yard sale, just added some ribbon and poinsettias...

A few more snowmen and red added to shelves and knick knacks and that's it...

So do you think I do too much? That's ok. I enjoy it. It takes a bit of work but once it's up I can just relax and enjoy it. My home makes me happy and makes me feel joyful  whenever I see it and we can all use a reason to smile in this world today.

Christmas outside 2020

 Changed and updated my colors outside this year for Christmas. So glad we had a stretch of warm days to put everything up. Enjoy...

                             My front porch....

I covered my cushions with white plastic from a shower curtain to protect from snow and the pillows I covered with flannel backed tablecloths...

I found this old chandelier in the trash, painted it red, added cardboard lights, greenery and ribbon...

Black and white poinsettias from Walmart dressed up my window garland...

A large top hat tree topper for my tree I found at Goodwill, more black and white poinsettias, red poinsettias, ribbon and I made some ornaments by glueing scrapbook paper to wood shapes..

I loved this extra large ornament I found at Hobby Lobby for my front door...

Extra large wreath on the house...

My old milk cans stay up year round , just added red ribbon, greenery and a small decorated sled...

Every table needs a centerpiece...

off to the side of my porch I have a rooster weather-vane, a welcome flag, and a wreath that hangs on my garden fence that hides my garden hose on back; more red poinsettias for my mailbox planter...

I found this North pole in the trash, it was missing the top so I glued on a large gold ornament, I found this adorable red sleigh at Goodwill and filled it with boxes covered with flannel backed tablecloths and duck tape and a small tree finishes off the setting...
