Christmas Home Tour - 2020 - Bedroom

This is my bedroom. It's small but cozy.  The walls are dark green and the curtains are maroon. I want to paint the walls but the thought of having to move everything stops me, maybe someday. I have to say I don't like the way my pictures turned out because the lighting is so bad.  But here it is...

An antique iron bed is adorned with greenery on the head and footboard...

Lots of fluffy pillows, the Merry Christmas pillow is made from a placemat...

a black  painted tray holds a Christmas tea pot, cup and towel....

Every room should have a chandelier. This one I found at my local Habitat for Humanity store,
they have great deals and they do wonderful work in the community...

Two small wreaths hang on the curtain rod between the windows...

Well, that's my home. All decorated for the Christmas holiday. I hope you have all enjoyed seeing it and maybe it inspired you to decorate your home. As you can see, it doesn't have to cost a lot of money. Make your home something you enjoy being in and have a very Merry Christmas!

Christmas Home Tour 2020 - Bathroom

This past year I changed up my bathroom and I'm so glad I did. If I could give any advice about decorating it would be to keep the main pieces of your room neutral colors: walls, carpet, sofa, rugs etc; that way when you want to change it all you have to change are the small things like pillows or curtains. I used to have to do my bathroom pink for Christmas ( which was pretty) but now because I painted my walls white any color will work. All I had to do was take away the yellow accents I had and replace it with Christmas colors - this year red, black and white. I love the way it looks.

I added a piece of black and white buffalo check fabric on this small shelf above the toilet, a snowman from a yard sale - I changed his scarf to match, and a black and white bowl full of red bells ...

Candy cane soap and lotion set from Home Goods...

                                                      vintage Christmas hankies- I love,
an old candle and the snowman holds a bowl of snowballs  cotton balls...

It's fun to have a reason to create, so all the florals I did this year just for this space.
A small white pitcher with poinsettias for the sink...

                                                                 A wreath for the wall...

a vase sits on the floor under the magazine rack...

and an arrangement on the back of the door...

My towels are red so I just layered some Christmas hand towels and hankies on top...

and searching for wall accessories is fun, of course my favorite places to shop are thrift stores...

I printed some Christmas pictures from the library to put in frames...

vintage ones for the frames hanging next to the mirror...

a friend helped me hang a chandelier this year, I love the sparkle it adds...

my bathroom may be small but I love the way it looks...

One more room to share next time....

Christmas Home Tour 2020 - Living Room

My living room is quite small but it has served us well over the years. It doesn't matter if you have a big fancy house or lots of expensive toys, what matters are the memories shared and the love between family and friends. People matter most of all. When my children were little, our house didn't feel so small but now that my sons are grown there are times when things feel a bit tight, but that's ok. I love when they are all home and we are together no matter how tight things get. So, even though I have been showing how I decorate my home with things, know that the most precious of all aren't things but the people we love.

with that being said here is my living room....

A big chair is moved to another room to make room for the Christmas tree...

The vintage Santa topper is a reminder of my childhood, it's the exact one my mother used to top our tree with...

I love the old fashioned tinsel and the simple red , white, silver and gold colors...

two paper mache deer that I painted white and glittered guard the presents...

My coffee table gets changed for the seasons...

I found this red truck at Goodwill it's actually a brick...

vintage tin ash trays ( of course no one here smokes ) I found at an estate sale,

anything vintage tugs at my heartstrings...

I have a shelf above my sofa...

and one I use as a mantle to display family photos...

two matching bookcases on either side of the doorway....

The doorway between my dining and living rooms...

We have a large window across from the sofa where I have a narrow shelf unit ,
it's hard to get a  good picture because of the light...

so that's my living room for Christmas, this year we will be missing a few loved ones,
but we still cherish the love of family and the memories shared....

what next? come back to find out....

Christmas Home Tour 2020 - Dining Room

My dining room is full - full of joy and laughter and good time memories. This is where we gather to eat, play games, decorate gingerbread cookies, work on homework and make wishes on birthday cakes.

Though the table is full it only takes a minute to move everything off
to make room for a board game, lately Scythe or Catan...

One of my favorite hutches to display Christmas items, including years of pictures with Santa..
I painted branches on paper and tacked it on the back of the shelf and made the pictures into ornaments to make them look like they're hanging from the branches...

Everything gets changed on the hutch for the holiday, I love the way it looks and everything is from yard sales or the thrift store, decorating doesn't have to cost a lot of money...

I find the cutest things thrifting...

vintage aprons are one of my favorites...

an extra chair in the corner holds vintage linens and snowmen...

A faux fireplace, wish I had room for a real one....

The chandelier above the table gets adorned with greens, ribbon and ornaments...

More snowmen, something about them just makes me smile...

the window seat, which is usually a sleeping place for my dog  - Daisy,
pillow is made from a placemat...

this pillow was a gift from my son and his wife, I just dressed it up with ribbon for Christmas...

every thing is touched by Christmas...

I hope your dining room is a place of joy and one that gets used in many ways, mine is

Next up the living room...
